The Howard Community College Education Foundation, Inc. has announced Anne Johnson as its new Executive Director and Director of Development. With nearly 12 years as the Director of Resource Development at the foundation, Johnson brings a wealth of experience and innovation to the role.
“We are thrilled that Anne has embraced this advocacy role on behalf of Howard Community College students, our institution, and our community,” said Jarrett Carter Sr., Vice President of External Affairs, Communications and Advancement. “Her record of successful community building around the HCC mission, combined with her leadership acumen for event planning, fundraising, and awareness building, makes her the ideal choice for this era of the college’s great history.”
Since the appointment of Daria J. Willis as college president in 2021, the college has broken records in fundraising and public support. Earlier this year, the college earned its first federal award from the US Department of Education Childcare Access Means Parents in School (CCAMPIS) program. It received more than $1 million to reopen its campus childcare center, which closed during COVID restrictions.
Last year, HCC received its largest gift in school history, a $2 million contribution from the Kahlert Foundation, supporting the construction of a new multipurpose center supporting the college’s mathematics and Dragon athletics programs. The center, currently under construction, is scheduled for completion in 2025.
“I look forward to embracing this leadership role in fundraising and am particularly excited about generating more support for HCC students with financial need,” said Johnson.
Her expertise in strategic planning and resource management is highlighted by her diverse background, including roles as Director of Triathlon and wellness Training at the Columbia Triathlon Association and General Manager at both the Belmont Conference Center and Spirit Cruises.
Anne is a baccalaureate graduate of the University of Delaware.
Congratulations Anne! This is an awesome and well deserved promotion. Wishing you all the best!
