Displaced Federal Workers, New Graduates Encouraged to Consider Work at HCC
HCC President Daria J. Willis today announced a new initiative to encourage displaced federal workers and soon-to-be college graduates to seek full or part-time non-teaching opportunities at Howard Community College.
"As one of the county's largest employers, we join our county, state, and federal leaders working to provide solutions for talented people thrust suddenly into challenging times and an increasingly competitive regional job market," Willis said. "Our work opportunities can provide professionals with pathways in career development or pivoting, or the flexibility to find other work while supporting the career goals of our scholars. We have received many calls about these opportunities, and look forward to meeting with a great group of potential employees."
HCC is seeking talent in the following areas:
Accounting
Data Entry
Machinery
Project Management
Program Management
More than 2,000 people have attended job fairs hosted by Howard County Government at HCC over the last two months. The County’s first Federal Workers’ Career Fair held at the college on February 25 was a response from Howard County Executive Calvin Ball to mass firings across the federal government.
On April 8, more than 70 businesses engaged with job seekers for positions in healthcare, energy, consulting, and more.
County officials say more than 50,000 Howard County residents are federal workers, contractors, or have been directly impacted by the layoffs.
Interested applicants can forward resumes and cover letters to jobs@howardcc.edu for consideration in multiple areas of work.
