HCC Featured in Student Parenting Docuseries

I am excited to announce that Howard Community College will be featured in the upcoming documentary series ‘Raising Up.’ The series examines student parents and the mutual efforts between scholars, their families, and their institutions to make higher education more attainable. The above video is the just-dropped trailer for the four-part series.

I was privileged to be a part of this film, produced by the Ascend Aspen Institute and slated for debut this spring. But I am incredibly excited also to share that Abigail Bediako, an HCC student set to graduate this spring, will also be featured in the series.

This is a big deal for our college and the work many do to support our student-parent community. From facilities to fundraising to teaching and learning, we are a national trendsetter in creating space and opportunities that reflect the needs of a driven cohort of learners.

I am very grateful for the hard work of the entire campus community in making student-parent achievement a part of our institutional fabric. We look forward to screening the film on campus very soon!
