Howard Community College’s Office of Public Relations and Marketing received recognition across seven categories in the 2023 District 1 Medallion Awards presented by the National Council for Marketing and Public Relations (NCMPR). The program showcases excellence in communications and design from community and technical colleges.
“These awards demonstrate the talent of a small but mighty team of great creatives, who capture the spirit of the college and its growth objectives in beautiful ways,” said Jarrett Carter Sr., vice president of external affairs, communications, and advancement.
The team received one gold and six silver awards for their work in publications design, video production, graphic design, and advertising.

Silver, Notes/Cards/Invitations: Invitation to Presidential Inauguration activities
Silver, Print Wild Card: HCC activity and coloring book
Silver, Logo Design: Logo for Financial Finesse, a series of student financial literacy events
Silver, Promotional Video, Long Form: A video showcasing HCC’s English Institute
Silver, Video Advertisement: A series of advertisements from the Have it ALL at HCC campaign
Silver, Kid’s Activity Kit: A bag of activities and toys given to entertain children at campus events
A full list of District 1 finalists is posted on the NCMPR website. District 1 includes all Maryland community colleges as well as institutions from Connecticut, Delaware, the District of Columbia, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Vermont, the Canadian provinces of New Brunswick, Newfoundland, Nova Scotia, Prince Edward Island and Quebec, and the United Kingdom.
Previous Medallion awards for HCC include silver and bronze wins in 2022 for the Horowitz Center season postcard and inauguration materials and two gold awards in 2021 for Pathways Magazine's Spring edition and the college’s 50th-anniversary website.
