Howard Community College Announces Retirement of Executive Vice President for Finance and Administration
Howard Community College President Daria J. Willis today announced the retirement of Dr. Ty Stone, Executive Vice President for Finance and Administration. Appointed in December 2023, Stone provided oversight of the college’s budgeting and finance, facilities management, auxiliary and campus services, public safety, human resources, and information technology departments. Stone will retire effective June 30.
“We appreciate Dr. Stone’s hard work in building efficiency and compliance across multiple divisions,” said Willis. “The board has been particularly pleased with the accuracy of our budgeting processes and the modernization of our IT and human resources offices. We all wish her the best in the next chapter of her personal and professional life.”
Stone cited time with family as a motivator for her retirement, which has spanned more than 30 years in higher education throughout the country. “In the spirit of practicing what I've long encouraged in others—sustainability, integrity, and intentional leadership—I have decided to step away and transition my professional journey,” Stone said. “I am proud of the work that I have accomplished here at Howard Community College, and the great strides the college has made in stabilizing and improving our operational efficiencies in multiple areas of the campus enterprise.”
Stone previously held presidential appointments at Cleveland State Community College in Cleveland, TN, and Jefferson Community College in Watertown, NY, where she was named in consecutive years to City & State New York Magazine’s ‘Power 100’ list for philanthropy and education. She has also served in vice presidential roles at Sinclair Community College in Dayton, OH, where she led student and business services operations, including information technology, public safety, external affairs, and enrollment management.
