Howard Community College Board of Trustees Elects New Leadership
The Howard Community College Board of Trustees has elected Sean P. Keller and Vivian Moore Lawyer as the executive body's chair and vice-chair. Keller was voted to serve for a second consecutive term as chair, while Lawyer will serve her first term.
"The board has an authoritative voice and vision for the economic, social, and cultural well-being of Howard County," said Howard Community College President Daria J. Willis. “I am pleased to know that we will benefit from the compassion and commitment of Chair Keller and Vice Chair Lawyer over the next academic year and for years to come as vigorous advocates for our students and employees."
Keller is a consultant with Peloton Strategies Group and founder and president of N-M Holdings, a UPS Store franchisee. The business operates multiple retail centers and is one of the largest franchise operators in central Florida. He was also cofounder, president, and CEO of Sage Management, a professional services firm serving the U.S. intelligence and national security communities. His previous service to the college includes membership on the board of directors for the Howard Community College Educational Foundation (HCCEF) and the Howard Community College Commission on the Future. He also serves as a Trustee for the Baltimore Basilica Historic Trust.
Lawyer retired with distinction from careers in professional coaching and human resources administration, having served for 22 years at Montgomery College in Maryland, including 12 years as Chief Human Resources Officer. Her civic memberships include service on the Howard County Human Rights Review Committee, the HCCEF, and the Howard County Personnel Board. She is active in the Columbia chapters of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., The Links, Incorporated, the African American Community Roundtable-Howard County (AACR), and the Equity Collaborative.
Keller and Lawyer will serve a one-year term through June 2025. The seven-member Howard Community College Board of Trustees, appointed by the governor for six-year terms, is the college's legal governing body.
