HCC announces executive appointments in two interim positions
Howard Community College President Daria J. Willis today announced Ty A. StoneĀ as interim vice president of campus services and chief financial officer and Tabitha Herry as interim chief information officer. Dr. Stone joined HCC on December 1, and Herry has been with HCC since 2005 in a variety of positions within Administrative Information Systems.
A distinguished educator with a successful record of executive experience in the community college sector, Dr. Stone will provideĀ oversight of the collegeāsĀ budgeting and procurement,Ā facilities management, and auxiliary servicesĀ portfolios. Ā Ā
Dr. Stoneās previousĀ stops include presidential appointments at Cleveland State Community College in Cleveland, TN, and Jefferson Community College in Watertown, NY, where she was named in consecutive years toĀ City & State New York Magazineās āPower 100ā list for philanthropy and education.Ā SheĀ has also served in vice presidential roles at Sinclair Community College in Dayton, OH, where sheĀ led student and business services operations, including information technology, public safety, external affairs, and enrollment management. Ā

Dr. Stone earned a doctorate in organizational management from Capella University, a master's in business administrationĀ from Trinity University in Washington, D.C., and her baccalaureate degree from Washington Adventist University in Takoma Park, MD. AĀ veteran of the United States Air Force who served as an air traffic controller in the United Kingdom, she says that aĀ spirit of service is what has guided her career and led her to the opportunity to join the HCC community. Ā

Herry brings over 10 years of experience managing daily operations and strategic initiatives within Information Technology. Ms. Herry has worked as an Information Technology Auditor on projects that included the Federal Communications Commission, Department of Justice, and multiple community colleges in the state of Maryland.
She first joined Howard Community College as a programmer in the Administrative Information Systems department in 2005. She worked in multiple positions in AIS prior to becoming the Director in 2020. In her roles within Information Technology, she has worked collaboratively on project, governance, and leadership teams to steadily redefine business processes and align staff with strategic initiatives for an improved system environment.
As interim vice president, Ms. Herry will oversee the technology leveraged by the campus community while providing leadership over the teams managing the technology infrastructure to meet the needs of the institutionās strategic plan and mission.
Ms. Herry earned her Master of Applied Information Technology with a concentration in Database Management from Towson University. She also holds a Bachelor of Science in Information Systems with an MBA certificate from University of Maryland Baltimore County.
