Why chairing the State Commission on Asian Pacific American Affairs means so much to me
Being appointed as the chair of the Governor's Commission on Asian Pacific American Affairs (APAA) is both a profound honor and a dedicated commitment to fostering positive change. I am deeply grateful to Gov. Moore for the opportunity and to Dr. Willis for paving the way by appointing me to represent Howard County’s Asian American & Pacific Islander (AAPI) Commission for Howard Community College (HCC). I look forward to serving our HCC, Howard County, and the broader Maryland communities with other APAA commissioners and the Governor’s Office of Community Initiatives led by Executive Director Rev. Lawrence Ellis Walker, Sr.
As a community college educator, I've witnessed the unique challenges and opportunities that the AAPI community faces in our society. Moreover, I’ve observed our remarkable contributions to America. It is crucial that we strengthen our advocacy efforts and expand our resources to provide unparalleled support to all communities.
Recognizing the importance of inclusivity and collaboration in building a stronger society, I am committed to working tirelessly to ensure that our AAPI community's voice is heard and valued. My firm belief is that working together can build a community where everyone is empowered and has equal access to resources, opportunities, and representation. Let's work together for a brighter future for all of us.
